Khloé Kardashian posted an Instagram late Monday night about the violence in Baltimore that erupted after Freddie Gray's funeral. It was a fairly simple sentiment. "Pray for Baltimore," read the illustration. Kardashian captioned the image with prayer hands and #PrayForBaltimore. So, why are people so angry about her post?
The reality star garnered plenty of support from her followers, but she also quickly met backlash. Commenters on both her Instagram and Twitter aired grievances, and many of their arguments against Kardashian's support for Baltimore range from heartfelt to flimsy to disappointing. Some wondered why she would pray for Baltimore when we should be praying for Nepal, and some say her post wasn't Christian. An unfortunate amount of commenters shared racist feelings that won't be regurgitated onto this site.

This is the catch-22 in which Kardashian — too often — finds herself. Her post asks others to pray for a city that's in a state of emergency. She's joined a political and social conversation. And, if she had ignored it altogether, her critics would say she's not involved enough in current events. It's no wonder Kardashian followed her Instagram with a tweet expressing her distaste for the negative reactions.
Yall are too much. Damned if I do. Damned if I don't. So now it's wrong to pray? What is wrong with some of you guys? Let me pray for YOU
