Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth met on the set of Nicholas Sparks' The Last Song in June 2009, where they fall in love in a Southern beach town. It wasn't long before the two began dating and the rest of their relationship has basically played out like a Sparks film. Think: A real-life version of The Notebook, or any other movie by the novelist featuring two white people who just can't quit each other.
Some history: Cyrus and Hemsworth broke up in 2010, only to get back together, split, and reunite all in a matter of a few months. Messy stuff. In 2012, they announced their engagement, but called it off in 2013. Recently, Cyrus has been dating Patrick Schwarzenegger, though that relationship is rumored to be rocky.
The plot thickens with this morning's most recent development. People reports that the former couple has been hanging out and "potentially rekindling their rocky romance." The magazine has a source who claims they're "friendly" but "not seeing each other." Apparently, they keep in touch via texts and bump into each other around town — as famous people do, I suppose.
In other words, Cyrus is Allie, Hemsworth is Noah, and Schwarzenegger, perfectly polished gem that he is, remains the Lon in this situation. All that's missing is a run-and-jump kiss on the beach of the very set of the movie where they first met. If you're a bird, I'm a bird, right?
