The recent birth of Charlotte, the second royal baby, generated considerable hype around the globe. But, Anna Kendrick is not having it.
The Pitch Perfect 2 star has been doing a lot of press to promote the film, which opens in theaters nationwide today. As part of her tour, she stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers Thursday night. "I don't know why anybody cares about the royal baby," she told Meyers. Her argument? She's just a baby: Little Charlotte has yet to do anything remarkable aside from being born.
Kendrick talked about the craze that swept the U.K. when Charlotte came into the world. (The actress was in London doing press at the time.) "There were all these flags up, and there were people baking special cakes at lunch to have in celebration of the royal baby, and I was like, 'The baby doesn't know you're doing that! The baby doesn't care!'"
Then, Kendrick, truth-teller that she is, said the one thing we all think but never risk saying aloud. "All babies look like sacks of potatoes," she told Meyers. "It just looks like a baby. You could put a picture of any baby, any Caucasian baby, and you'd be like, 'Aw, it looks like a baby!' Is it a boy? Is it a girl? Is it a sack of potatoes? I don't know!"
