Steven Klein & NARS Threw One Insane, Gender-Bending Rave

If you thought makeup maestro François Nars and photographer Steven Klein were going to host a quaint little breakfast to announce their new makeup collection — welcome to 2015. These are two men who know no bounds when it comes to creativity, sexuality, art, and, if it’s not obvious, disposable income.
“Steven and I love decadence, we love fun parties — real parties that you don’t see anymore,” Nars told Refinery29 last evening at New York's Alder Manor, where the two transformeed the historic Yonkers site into a wild, raucous disco. “Fun people, beautiful people, crazy people, that’s what makes a great party — a mix of many different things.” It made perfect sense: The bash was filled with some of the most interesting and beautiful people possible, including drag queens, designers, singers, and every single model you follow on Instagram.
“Steven and I don’t like typical beauty," he continued. "We like very different types of beauty and this reflects our taste." Their tastes were, of course, brought to life through a haunted beauty mansion with uninhibited abandon. And, while the images of the actual makeup collection are still under lock and key, we scored insider photos of the most ridiculous party New York has ever seen to tide you over until it hits shelves this October.
