Just when you thought there were no frontiers left for the Kardashian-Jenner clan to conquer: Kim Kardashian made her move on NPR this weekend. As a guest on the popular public radio quiz show Wait Wait ... Don't Tell Me, she probably won over all those sophisticated types who won't touch E! and leave social media for the kids — with a surprising touch of self-deprecating humor.
Guest host Mike Pesca asked Kardashian about the birthday party she threw for Kanye last week, for which she rented the Staples Center. She explained how the whole thing came about.

"It's been this big fight where every time I get my daughter something, it could be the smallest toy or especially when I got her playset, which was her Christmas present, my husband wonders, 'How come we can't get a basketball court?' It's the only thing he requested in the house," she explained via phone on the show. She said she'd been "ignoring" the request for two years — as any wife in her right mind would — but finally surprised West with building one behind their house for his birthday. Since it wasn't going to be ready in time, she decided to do the next best thing.
"Because it's so normal, I get it — [I] rented out the entire Staples Center to play a game of basketball with him and just his best guy friends. And then I invited a couple NBA players, and it was so much fun."
Later, when answering questions about her book Selfish, she said she isn't a big fan of the selfie stick, but she did get a sort of substitution of the tool at Yeezy's party. "[W]hen I was at the basketball game party, some of the basketball players were taking selfies with us, and I was like, 'This is like using a selfie stick...' "
She also joined in on a joke implying that when her phone fills up with photos of herself, she just throws the whole thing away and gets a new one. Aw, she can laugh at her wealth just like us!
