Demi Lovato bit back after Katy Perry and Jessi J fans accused the "Neon Lights" star of being a copycat.
"Cool for the Summer," Lovato's most recent release, proved to be divisive in the Twitter community. "Didn't know demi lovato turned into katy perry [sic]," read one tweet. "Demi Lovato’s new song is a gross hybrid of Domino by Jessie J & any given Katy Perry song," read another. When ET tweeted about the rift, the songstress decided to set the record straight through her own social media account.
@etnow sounds nothing like it and with all the advances we've made in the LGBT community...

"I think more than one female artist can kiss a girl and like it," Lovato added. Then — after her haters were sufficiently shut down — the pop star headed to the Gansevoort Park Avenue in New York, to perform her new single in a lavish poolside setting. After she finished the set, the singer hopped in the pool, fully clothed, to mingle with her fans. That's certainly one way to cool things down after a heated day.
As for whether or not the songs sound the same ... Well, we'll let you decide. Lovato's new tune is certainly reminiscent of a Katy Perry bi-curious track circa '08, as well as Jessi J's "Domino" to a degree. The again, in the Age of Autotune, what doesn't sounds similar?
