Donald Trump Digs Hole Deeper, Calls Miss Universe A “Hypocrite”

Donald Trump just doesn't know when to stop. Nearly two weeks after the newly-announced presidential candidate incensed Americans — on both sides of the aisle — with what many have dubbed racist remarks, Trump's downward spiral continues. Yesterday, he called Colombian-born Miss Universe winner Paulina Vega a hypocrite after she criticized his statements on her Instagram. "I want to show my support and validate the sentiments of the Latin community," the 22-year-old shared. "I strongly believe that dividing and categorizing humankind only holds it back. Bending and embracing the differences that exist across humanity is the first step in actual and substantial development. We must strive together in order to improve the common good." She also wrote that she was personally hurt by Trump's comments, and tried to delineate between the magnate and the Miss Universe Organization overall. "For the past 64 years," she explained, "[The Miss Universe Organization has] created partnerships with great charity groups and have helped thousands of communities. Their legacy of uniting countries from around the world has been inspiring to many. If the Miss Universe Organization shared any anti-Latin sentiments or any type of racial biases, I wouldn’t be in this position today." Of course, Donald Trump couldn't let her social media comments go unaddressed. "Miss Universe, Paulina Vega, criticized me for telling the truth about illegal immigration, but then said she would keep the crown-Hypocrite," he wrote on Twitter Sunday. Unsurprisingly, he's missing the point once again. Vega wasn't critiquing the Miss Universe Organization, which is co-owned by Trump and NBCUniversal: She was criticizing the presidential hopeful's outrageous statements — and with good reason. The fact that the mogul can't discern the difference between those two notions is all the more reason that he may not be qualified to lead a nation. And, from the looks of the last few weeks, an America under Donald Trump would be a dangerous country to call home.
