The rest of the world may be reeling from yesterday's revelation that Bill Cosby purchased Quaaludes with the intention of using them to drug women he wanted to have sex with, but Whoopi Goldberg seems to be taking it in stride.
Today The View co-host continued to show her support for the embattled comedian, insisting that the allegations of rape against him may not be true.
"We’ll see what happens as more information comes out, people will make judgments,”Goldberg said. “I don’t like snap judgments because I’ve had snap judgments made on me, so I’m very very careful… save your texts, save your nasty comments — I don’t care.”
"This is my opinion and in America, still — I know it’s a shock — but you actually were innocent until proven guilty; he has not been proven a rapist," she added.
Fellow co-host Raven-Symone, who once starred on The Cosby Show, also declined to pass judgment.
Who knows. Maybe Goldberg is right; Cosby hasn't yet been proven guilty in a court of law. Neither were Robert Blake or O.J. Simpson. We still wouldn't defend them on national television, before an audience predominantly made of women. Goldberg is entitled to her opinion, but she should also realize that this has gone way past "snap judgments." (The Wrap)
