If you've read any Kristen Stewart interview ever, you know that the actress 1) probably doesn't want us to refer to her as "Twilight star Kristen Stewart," 2) doesn't want us placing her in any other kind of box, and 3) oh, never mind, she DGAF what we think or do, 'cause she's just that cool. In her latest interview for Marie Claire, though, Stewart makes a frank revelation about weathering a difficult period.
"Between ages 15 and 20, it was really intense," she tells the magazine in the August issue that hits newsstands July 21. "I was constantly anxious. I was kind of a control freak. If I didn't know how something was going to turn out, I would make myself ill, or just be locked up or inhibited in a way that was really debilitating."
As it turns out, she did really care what we thought — to a painful extent. "Speaking very candidly, it was a really traumatic period in my early 20s that kick-started something in me that was a bit more feral."
By traumatic period, we assume Stewart is referring to the intense fame and nonstop scrutiny of her love life during the Twilight years, and her affair with married Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. But after coming out of the fire, she's genuinely embracing the IDGAF attitude some thought she had all along.
"I'm really proud that I am able to move forward and not fall into every mental crater," says Stewart, whose next movie is American Ultra, out in August. "That's a new thing for me. Age has made me smarter and calmer. And it is fucking awesome." (Marie Claire)
