Dakota Johnson Mixes Up Preppy Staples

For an afternoon shopping jaunt with fashion editor Derek Blasberg, Dakota Johnson opted for 50 shades of navy for her outfit of choice. (Also of note: resident man-about-town Blasberg gets to partake in retail therapy with all the cool girls.) Thanks to a skillful mix of accessories, the off-screen Anastasia Steele managed to make a jeans and t-shirt outfit look anything but snoozy.

First, let’s talk about the effortlessly cool way that Dakota dressed up her slouchy black t-shirt and skinny jeans. She double-wrapped a killer gold studded belt around her waist — outside of the belt loops, mind you. Then she matched that gilded embellishment in a prepped-out way via classic Gucci horsebit loafers. (Also comfy for all that walking.) To either protect her complexion from the sun (or unsuccessfully ward off the paparazzi), she wore both a large brim felt fedora and a pair of oversized cat-eye sunglasses. And despite the sweltering New York City heat, she threw Blasberg's jacket over her shoulders, making the case for an oversize blazer this fall.
