Raven-Symoné Was Body-Shamed On The Cosby Show

Raven-Symoné didn't seem at all surprised when Whoopi Goldberg dropped a depressing fact on The View. Goldberg cited a study which says kids can start looking in the mirror and be disappointed by what they see, as young as age eight. Symoné said her issues began even before that, as a seven-year-old child star on The Cosby Show. She remembered wanting to enjoy some of the treats for the cast on the craft service table, and was told she should skip a bagel to watch her figure. Symoné recalled that pressure to diet followed her to That's So Raven, which actually had an episode that challenged the idea that young women in the media have to be thin.
Symoné has been vocal in the past about how her body and other women's bodies are judged, especially in the media. In an interview with Oprah earlier this year, she explained her 2011 weight loss, saying,"I lost weight to keep them people from talking to me. I got tired and irritated."
