Lily Collins Makes A Case For A Late-Summer Matching Set

On top of all the sunshine, vacations, and general laid-back attitude of the season, floral matched sets are yet another wonderful thing that we’ll miss about summer. Especially after we saw what Lily Collins wore to Jennifer Klein’s annual (and awesomely named) Day of Indulgence Summer Party in Brentwood over the weekend. But wait — not only did the It Girl make us swoon over her chic floral crop top and midi-skirt ensemble, she also gave us some pointers on how to wear the look right into fall. We don’t have to give up our cropped and printed co-ords anytime soon.
First, Collins went with a richer cerulean blue, white, and black color palette that easily progresses into the cooler weather with a denim jacket or cropped moto layer. (Plus, matching sets offer even more outfit opportunities worn separately: Like trousers, a sporty-chic sweatshirt, a cable-knit sweater...) Then, she accessorized with perfect transition pieces: a fringed drawstring bag and tough stacked-heel slides in a neutral hue. But to remind us that we’re still in August — don’t worry, we’re not cutting your summer short just yet — Collins opted for beachy jewelry. She paired a chunky agate ring with a vintage-inspired bangle, worn up on her forearm like a cuff.
