Selena Gomez Finally Describes What It Was Like Dating Justin Bieber

Growing up in the public eye often means giving up a lot of your privacy. For Selena Gomez, it meant experiencing her first young relationships in front of the world. One of those pairings just happened to be with one of the biggest pop stars on the planet, Justin Bieber, and the scrutiny was intense.
"I didn’t think I was doing anything bad by falling in love," Gomez said in an interview with the U.K.'s The Sunday Times. "There’s such an emphasis on people being the perfect thing and then destroying them because it’s good press."
Gomez also chalks up part of the reason the two didn't work out to the difficulty of "being teenagers." The singer said that her next relationship will be one she holds dear, and that she has no intention of hiding her life from the public. But she's not looking for that connection right now. She is dating, she confirmed, but also said she's busy working ahead of the release of her new album on October 9.

Furthermore, we're all free to continue asking Gomez about Bieber, but she's over it. "The internet wants to freeze this moment in time and constantly repeat it," Gomez said. The star is also over people who can't let go of her high-profile relationship with Nick Jonas and those purity rings they both wore. She's not embarrassed to talk about it, or the fact that she doesn't wear hers anymore.
One thing she'll never forget, though, is bestie Taylor Swift's help in getting over her breakup with Jonas. "When I split with my first boyfriend [Nick Jonas] and I was really sad about it, she flew into town with homemade cookies and a bunch of junk food," Gomez said of Swift.
"I can count on one hand the people I could call and who would be there for me. Taylor is one of the greatest people," Gomez said. Squad goals, indeed.
