A striped T-shirt and denim mini skirt make for a textbook summer outfit. We admit it's easy to take these staples for granted. We'll also admit we were just crossing our fingers for fall layering weather, thanks to Olivia Palermo's clever plaid mixing. But, Lily Collins proves it's not time to ditch the classic summer combo just yet.
While out on an errand run in Beverly Hills, the actress took the standard stripes-and-denim pairing to a whole other level. In lieu of Breton stripes, Collins opted for a dainty front panel of the pattern (by Paige), casually quarter-tucked into the now-ubiquitous Alexa Chung for AG button-front, A-line denim skirt. Seriously, all the cool girls are wearing it. (Side note: Why is the supposedly low-pressure partial tuck so much harder to achieve than it looks?)
Lily put her own SoCal spin on the French-Girl staples with some eclectic accessorizing. Her two-toned, python-embossed flat sandals match her roomy snakeskin tote (but not too perfectly). She kept her jewelry simple, but also varied: a double-bar ring on one hand and a delicate band on the other, plus a stack of fabric-wrapped bracelets for a boho touch. For the finale, Lily pinned back her locks with a few mini-hair clips that we haven’t seen since Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Very #TBT, Collins.
