"I won't be a Duggar much longer," Amy Duggar's Instagram bio proclaims. That's a loaded statement, for sure. On the one hand, Michelle and Jim Bob's niece is referring to her impending nuptials to Dillon King, which will take place this weekend. But she's not even slightly hiding the fact that she's also quite relieved to leave behind the family name and all the scandal it's entailed this year.
"I can't wait to change my name!" she told People. "It's going to be a great day when Dillon signs that marriage license and my last name changes. You have no idea!"
Duggar has always considered herself the rebel of the conservative family, though she also asserts her Christianity. Earlier this year, she told Radar that her uncle's courtship rules (no kissing!) were unrealistic. "I can’t even imagine courting like that. It works for them, and I hope to God they have successful relationships," she told the site, months before the names "Instagram post about them this January.
"Just because I share the Duggar name doesn't mean my life is perfect!" she wrote back then. Whoo boy. That was before everyone learned the truth about the Josh Duggar molestation story, including Amy, who said she found out about it when the rest of the world did.
