Fishnet Tights: They’re Back, They’re Babely, But There’s A Catch…

It has been a very long time since fishnet tights have been en vogue. Since Taylor Momsen turned “bad” on Gossip Girl, and wearing your ripped tights with cut-offs and platform black booties was a very viable Friday-night outfit, fishnets haven’t really made their way out of the sock drawer since then. However, at the Creatures of the Wind show on Thursday, our fingers started itching. The large-knit fishnet tights were paired with everything from long pants to short skirts, and gave the already stellar Katharine-Hepburn-’40s-meets-Melanie-Griffith-’80s silhouettes an extra squeeze of cool.
The key to these fishnets looking modern instead of dated is to go for a loose, large web instead of something with a smaller knit. Then, according to Creatures of the Wind, you can literally pair them with anything — even open-toe sandals (avoid fishnets that have a visible footbed or toe-catch to them, for maximum impact). Click through to get yourself convinced: You'll be overturning your own sock drawer to find your pair before the end.
