Lookbook Love: First Rite’s Old West-Inspired Spring ’12 Collection

Out of all the local brands coming out of San Francisco, First Rite is definitely one of the coolest. The brainchild of FIDM-grad Nikki Garcia, the edgy line is all about high-quality materials utilized in classic silhouettes—with a little twist. Naturally, Garcia's latest Old West-inspired offering for spring '12 doesn't disappoint. Filled with crop tops paired with bolo ties, dresses with peek-a-boo cutout backs, subtle mullet-shaped midi-skirts, and the perfect cropped trouser, we can see more than a few of these pieces making their way into our wardrobe with little problem. "I took inspiration from old photographs, movies, vintage pieces, and my own experiences living and traveling through the west and combined it with my more modern aesthetic," explains the Montana-born designer. "It's all about those women wearing full-length skirts, high pants, and shirts buttoned up to the neck, dressing in a style that's a practical, rough-around-the-edges, roll-up-your-sleeves look. But it's also still feminine. I used silks, linen, rayon, gauze, knits, and wool to create a collection full of different textures and even added leather and bone detailing." Check it all out after the jump, and, if you're fiending for more, peep our slideshow of First Rite's Spring 2011 offerings.
