Apocalypse Now: Alexander Wang’s Contagion-Inspired Fall Collection

The parade of lacquered looks that made up Alex Wang's fall '12 collection left us speechless. Models, whose mouths were covered up behind mesh turtlenecks worn surgical mask-style, came stomping down the runway like a procession of off-duty ninjas, or bike messengers delivering packages in a post-apocalyptic New York.
Evening dresses were paired with bicep-high gloves, white pant suits felt even richer with leather trim, and the jackets (which really stole the show) remained true to the utilitarian cuts and shapes that have worked so well for Wang in past seasons. Alex Wang's clothes usually define the direction of the "Downtown Girl," and his departure from his loose-'n'-ripped roots hasn't diminished his cool-factor one bit. In fact, if next fall, the look-to-adopt does indeed require a set of mesh turtlenecks and nun-chucks, well, sign us up for a martial arts class.
