If you've been anywhere on social media this weekend, you probably saw pics of rainbow-colored cakes, lip-print-covered walls, and floating clouds. Or if you took a cab in any of the five boroughs, you likely watched a Taxi TV ad for a big bash in Brooklyn. Humblebrag: That's us! See, to celebrate our 10th birthday, we transformed a two-story warehouse into a funhouse aptly named 29Rooms, which involved — yep, you guessed it — 29 larger-than-life interactive rooms. It was weird. It was fun. It was R29 in real life.
The doors were open to the public on Friday and Saturday from noon 'til 8 p.m. with a private VIP party Thursday night; Drew Barrymore, Alexa Chung, Zoë Kravitz, and more experienced the rooms upstairs and danced into the night on the ground floor. From the first step inside a bare-bones Waiting Room (complete with a vintage television set, an old-school typewriter, and a receptionist) to the very last jump inside a purse-shaped Bounce Bag, 29Rooms was a whimsical and trippy sensorial overload. We wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
Ahead, relive the rooms in all their glory.
