Subtlety and refinement seem to be lost arts in America, especially when it comes to make-up. While I love intense colors — graphic slashes of black or white and bold red lips — sometimes, subtle touches of muted color just feel so right. Try it out this weekend: Set aside your cobalt eye shadow, coral lipstick, black eye liner, and bright cheek colors. Instead, use just a smudge of grey or warm beige around the eyes, contour with a neutral tone and polish it off with a satin finish lip balm. Sophisticated, modern and surprisingly sexy.
