At most colleges, the return of the fall semester means move-in day and homecoming festivities. But for the Academy of Art University design students, it’s time to present their spring '13 collections at New York Fashion Week. And by looking at Friday’s fresh-off-the-runway looks, it’s clear that these sartorial academics didn’t skip a day of class.
AAU’s best up-and-coming BFA and MFA style engineers Ginie C.Y Huang, Jarida Karnjanasirirat, Yanfei Fan, Jisun Lee, Iglika Vasileva Matthews, and the French Textile Collection presented creations worthy of the catwalk (they're the only students to show during Fashion Week). From rave-ready, electric-hued ensembles with furry trimmings to ultra-girly metallic power suits adorned with 3-D bowties, these collections unquestionably deserve high marks.
Naturally, we selected the top looks that took center stage. Take a gander after the jump and see what these budding, made-in-the-Bay talents have in store.
