The question that crosses our minds as mid-July hits New York City is simple: How on Earth do you look good when it's 95 degrees (and 100% humidity) outside? Staying in and planting yourself next to a roaring A.C. window unit may seem like the only viable option; but where's the fun in that?
The alternative, of course, is to hit the ground running (literally) and brave the sweltering city sweat in your workout best, showing that even the simplest of leggings and sports bras can be the solution to beating the heat in style. This past Saturday, at the 14th annual Adidas Fanatic soccer tournament, players and spectators alike validated the notion that athleisure isn't just a trend in comfort; it looks really damn good, too.
Bridging the gap between fashion and fitness one match at a time, the Brooklyn Bridge Park-based fest put 28 teams — consisting of the city's raddest (and, let's be honest, most stylish) companies (think Acne Studios, Opening Ceremony, The Ace Hotel, Vice, and more) — head-to-head in the ultimate test of athletic ability, all while providing New York City with some serious outfit eye candy.
Ahead, you'll find 17 women who aren't just dominating athleisure with ease — they're showing that looking good in the worst weather is possible. You just need to know where to begin.
