I've done my fair share of moving into and out of dorms, apartments, you-name-it. The process summed up in a word? Tiring. But, the prospect of each new place is always met with healthy amounts of excitement and anticipation, too. Thoughts of extravagant baking projects, Netflix binges on just-purchased couches, and grown-up dinner parties abound. If ever there's a time for new furniture and decor, it's the moment the lease is signed — or at least that's my plan.
Having graduated college just last May and carrying some student-loan debt, I wasn't able to immediately jump into the apartment search. Instead, I saved my paychecks — plus all of the money I made while interning — and waited. Exactly 11 months after commencement, I'm finally moving into an NYC pad all my own. Okay, it's not all mine. I've got a pretty awesome roommate to share it with: my boyfriend.
Now that all of the paperwork is finalized, we couldn't be more excited to shop for our new abode. The spot is a second-floor walk-up with beautiful, exposed-brick walls and a spacious master bedroom. It is the Holy Grail of apartments — and we found it on Craigslist, no less. All that's left to do is furnish and decorate. And, you better believe I have tons of items on my wish list for my new digs, and I'm sharing them with you ahead. Scope out the dishes, rug, accent chair, and more that I've got my eye on. Yep, those dorm days are long gone.
