Feel like Brooklyn has gotten too damn expensive? Well, you’re not just seeing those dollar signs in your dreams — the New York borough is now officially the most unaffordable place to live in the United States.
According to a study conducted by RealtyTrac, which analyzed 475 counties across the United States, "a [Brooklyn] resident would need to devote 98% of the median income to afford the payment on a median-priced home of $615,000." That’s even higher than the median home cost during the property bubble between 2005 and 2008.
But, before you cross living in a beautiful Brooklyn brownstone off your list, there's a silver lining to this real estate mess. We dug deep into the countless New York listings to find 10 unbelievable apartments for under $500,000. Sometimes, you have to see it to believe it.
