If movie making is like football, then the Oscars are like the Super Bowl. Hollywood's most glamorous night is underway and the players have been announced; And looking over the nominees list, we certainly were not surprised (it's like déjà vu of the Golden Globes)...until we started noticing some pretty important names that were left out. Our fave baby mama Natalie Portman obviously tops the list for Best Actress (and we're clutching our skirts to see what kind of flow-y chiffon-y dress she'll be wearing), our predicted best-dressed Michelle Williams squeezes in, and Jennifer Lawrence gets a nod for her role in Winter's Bone (this W cover girl is a fashion star on the rise), but then Mila Kunis gets bumped out of Best Supporting Actress. Poor Chris Nolan gets super snubbed for Directing, and Ryan Gosling doesn't get any props for Blue Valentine. Seriously, what is going on? We may not know everything about Oscar politics, but what we do know is that we will be free to give out our own rad or bad awards for red carpet attire. Let the games begin! (WaPo)
