On November 4, 2013, I published the first post in The Anti-Diet Project, saying something along the lines of, "This sucks, am I right?" I guess I must have been right, because that post became the column that would change my life — and continues to change it every day.
In the last year and a half, I've shared my ups and downs as I learned to embrace intuitive eating, rational fitness, and unconditional body positivity. As far as I've come, I know there so much more work ahead — and that's a good thing. I'm grateful for those challenges to come. Bring it.
Today, I'm launching a new phase of The Anti-Diet Project. This journey has become my message, and starting now, I'm going to say it even louder. Going forward, I will be publishing a new Anti-Diet column every single Monday. If you're new and want to read up on previous posts, you can find them all on our snazzy new page, where you'll also see some highlights from Instagram (and even more fun stuff down the road).
Here's the best part: I will be inviting new voices to the column. As it turns out, I'm not the only one who's sick of feeling like an unhinged maniac around bagels, a prisoner of the treadmill, or a monster in her own body. In addition to my own story, The Anti-Diet Project will become a place to hear more people's experiences — the good, the bad, and the icky bits. The icky bits are the best part, after all.
So, perhaps today is not a celebration of a "new phase" as much as the next step in this long, fun, scary, exciting, and sometimes icky journey. I think that's worth celebrating, too.
