A.P.C.’s Quilt Collection Is Not For Old Fogies

When you think of patchwork quilts, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? An old biddy in a rocking chair? Thought so. Well, A.P.C. (the arbiters of French-girl cool) has us rethinking this classic coverlet — and coveting one for ourselves.

While this isn’t A.P.C.’s first venture into the quilt-making biz, the label has officially reissued 20 of its most prized designs for an exclusive exhibition at its West 4th Street location. And, in honor of this exiting offering, designer Jessica Ogden (who first garnered attention after weaving the quilting technique in her own label, Madras) created a special collection of collector-worthy accessories and household goods.

The items are crafted from excess fabric the brand's collected over the last 27 years. "No fabrics are developed for this, which proves difficult because if you only have one meter of the surplus material, you can only use just a bit of it on an object," Ogden explained. And, while the line does stock cute tablet cases, totes, and cosmetic cases, it's the adorable cat-shaped cushions that are most noteworthy. "I have a big love of cats and am the godmother to Jean's [A.P.C.'s creative director] little one, so I made her a cat and thought this could go somewhere," Ogden said. "The cat is for sure my favorite piece in the collection."
