Hump Day Party Pics! 2 Sleek Art Benefits, 16 Awesome Photos

At R29, we're not only patrons of the arts, but we're patrons of partying. And, in this case, we're patrons of partying for the arts (is that meta?). Yes, this past week we joined some of New York's finest in feting super-worthy causes with equally outstanding artwork (complete with insanely cool live and silent auctions to scoop up, say, a Shepard Fairey or a Tim Barber for less than museum prices).
The duo of visually-packed soirees in question? First up, Artwalk, this year sponsored by Fendi and co-chaired by Richard Gere, Coco Rocha, Carey Lowell, and Alec Baldwin (to name just a few bold-faced committee members). The downtown affair benefited NYC's Coalition For The Homeless, and, when all was said and done, charitable chic-sters managed to raise over $870,000 for the cause. The giving spree was no doubt partially galvanized by the Big Apple's top chefs — everywhere we looked there were tasting stations too good to pass up from the likes of Macao Trading David Burke Kitchen, Indochine, and The National.
Next on our hit list? RxArt — the annual so-cool-for-school bash at Milk Studios was helmed by committee members including Derek Blasberg, Michelle Harper, Proenza's Lazaro Hernandez, Alexandra Richards, and Harley Viera Newton, all in the aid of bringing art and healing to the otherwise sterile environments of hospital rooms (the benefactor this time around was Brooklyn's own King's County).
Our verdict: Not only did these creative cocktails raise much-needed funds for for inspiring initiatives, but they also made for some outfit inspiration, too, c/o the style-savvy supporters. As we're wont to do, we rounded up the raddest snaps from both happenings to provide you with a little Hump Day eye candy. If it puts you in a giving frame of mind, so much the better. What do they say? A picture speaks a thousand words....
