It's the kind of fashion that we once only reserved for the weekends or when we didn't have to feel on. But, sportswear is not just another lightweight trend. It's now dreamed up with fabrics and details that feel special, thoughtful, and smart. Think pants so comfortable you could don them for your downward dogs, tube socks that look pilfered from your dad's drawers, Letterman-inspired bomber jackets, and so many sneakers. Yes, rubber soles demand the same attention as your most prized pair of heels, and that's a welcome shift in our book.
Sure enough, the new fall collection from ASOS only fuels this infatuation with silhouettes that are easy to wear and easy to mix and match. Plaid patterns, luxe-looking silks, and cozy knits combine every which way, and could just as easily be worn with those heels you happily teeter in or lug soles that you, well, happily don't.
We're especially loving the new nod to uniform style with the inclusion of racer stripes and varsity letters. It's elements of sportswear that are a bit more literal, but certainly not as contrived as tossing on a basketball jersey under your 9-to-5 blazer. It's subtle, sneakily comfortable, and thankfully, sticking around until at least the fall. We'll consider that a victory.
