We've been wearing them since the mid-2000s, but skinny jeans may finally be nearing the end of their reign. Don't believe us? That's fair — they're still the predominant style seen on the street, on the racks, and among our friends. But, we've been noticing our peers who are always five steps ahead of the curve have quit the cigarette jean altogether. What's replaced it? Gauchos.
Baggy, cropped, and sometimes cuffed, this new shape varies from slightly roomy to completely tent-like and crisply creased to soft and loose. Worn with ankle-baring sandals, pumps, boots, or sneakers — just no high-tops, please — the pants look fresh and striking, especially in a sea of skinnies. Click through, and see if you're not tempted to take those toothpick jeans to Goodwill.
