Dudes Will Sweat These New Handmade Ties

With winter giving us a major case of the "I'm over everything in my closet," sometimes all you need is an amped up accessory to inject some excitement in your dressing routine. For guys, there's nothing easier than adding a cool, luxurious tie to the mix. So dudes everywhere need to give new neckwear line C. Chauchat (pronounced 'show-shaw) a round of applause. Utilizing dressmaking and high-quality fabrics, the designers—Beverly Liang, an anthropology major, and Curie Choi, an Isabel Toledo alum—say they are taking an "old world" approach to tailoring and customizing (you might recognize that craftsmanship from Robert Geller's fall '11 collection—the ties were courtesy of C. Chauchat), as well as incorporating a feminine approach to the menswear staple. Indeed, the whole range of neckties, bowties, and scarves are handmade with explicit attention to detail and a whole lot TLC. For those of you who don't wear neckties as a daily accessory, we think these babies, inspired by '60s Op Art, and Magic Eye illusion, and fabricated in graphic cotton voiles, neon silk chiffon and tulle, are more than perfect to spice up the winter blahs.
Available at Assembly New York, 170 Ludlow (between Stanton and East Houston streets), 212-253-5393.
