The fact that L.A.-based songwriter/producer Jesse Nolan's solo project is called Caught A Ghost makes perfect sense. The music feels classic, old, unapologetically retro — like something that's been hanging around a '50s hotel parlor or old-school nightclub. His new single, "Somehow," is a classic soul joint filled with brass, low-key snare, and a somber melody on which which Nolan laments, "Sometimes I'm so high / Sometimes I'm so low." It's the sort of song that could have been written half a century ago, or just yesterday. Some things, it seems, never go out of style.
