Well, sorta. There are certain attractions to having one of Hollywood's better actors whisper a fine piece of literature into the ear of a loved one. And now, as a last minute second gift, Audible.com’s
A-List Collection
(an appliance your parents almost certainly have) features vocal work by some of our favorites, reading some of our favorites. Most are actually quite appropriate: Colin Firth reads the steamy, oh-so-English The End of the Affair , the sweet-voiced, theatrical Anne Hathaway reads The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and Kate Winslet reads Emile Zola's Thérèse Raquin. Yes, yes, and yes. One note, however — they let Nicole Kidman read Virginia Woolf's To The Lighthouse forgetting that some Woolf fans (ahem) still hold The Hours against her. Still, it's a neat little collection and an easy, inexpensive buy. Scoop 'em up here.
