Not that we're constantly up on the latest children's movie releases, but we couldn't help but notice that Paddington is officially out, which is just one movie in a long line of beloved children's books that have been turned into a big-screen adaptation. And, to that we ask, Hollywood, can you not?
Sure, there are some successful adaptations — the Harry Potter (2001-11) and The Hunger Games (2012-15) franchises, Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009), and Hugo (2011) — but that's like saying it's easy to find needles in a haystack. Ahead, we've rounded up 10 of our favorite children's books, ones that remain forever near and dear to our hearts, even though they have sadly been ruined for us on the big screen.
