Has any other year in recent memory offered up so many buzz-worthy store openings? Maybe. But, this year — with its H&M-sister brand invasions and numerous e-commerce-to-brick-and-mortar transformations — was particularly riveting. Add to that a ton of speculation (not to mention competition) over which U.S. city would get to claim which European import's first American flagship store, and 2014's shopping debuts feel downright theatric.
