Creatures Of Comfort’s Prairie Woman-Chic Collection

We might have beach-front views and miles of expressways in lieu of wheat-tipped prairies, but we feel like we may have been pioneer women in another life. Designed by Jade Lai, Creatures of Comfort's spring 2011 lookbook has taken that idyllic fantasy and updated it for the lot that drive their hybrids—and not a mule-drawn buggy—to work. Floor-length skirts, loose work blouses, and lovely silk sundresses would fit in as seamlessly into our wardrobes as Laura Ingalls', but the perfectly cut shorts, criss-crossed tanks, and slouchy pants are definitely au courant. And coming in colors like burnt siennas, dusk-hour blues, and persimmon reds, the collection brings that color-soaked pastoral romanticism that we need to punctuate our urban lifestyle. Pieces from the collection will be available after Christmas—which leaves us just enough time to practice our jig. You know we'll be dancing when the collection will finally be ours!
Creatures of Comfort, 7971 Melrose Avenue (between N. Edinburgh and N. Hayworth avenues); 323-655-7855.
