This Face Mask Will Transform Your Skin

Certain beauty products — think NARS blush in Orgasm, Clinique's Black Honey lipstick — are so good, they're practically famous. And, while we do love so many of those well-known, well-loved products, we wonder why others have been quietly flying under the radar. With that in mind, meet our new beauty series, Cult Classics. Here we'll introduce you to the products you really, truly should know about (and try, like, right now). They're not brand new, but trust us: They've got staying power.
When it comes to sheet masks, those face-shaped paper and gel layers you stick on your skin, we're kind of experts. We've tried every iteration. And, while we love the effects they impart, we've never been totally blown out of the water by one. They're good, but they're not life-changing. Enter Dr. Jart+'s Water-Full Hydrogel Mask. This gel-treatment sheet claims to give skin a moist and dewy effect, and we'd have to agree. We'd even say it transformed our skin.

Infused with a megadose of hyaluronic acid, the gel consistency has a pleasing, cooling sensation. The masks are in two parts — a top and bottom half — which will come as a relief to anyone who ever thought the oversized sheets were made for giants. Rather than having to fold and bunch them to fit your face, the two sections allow for a more customized fit so they won't slip off. And, since the whole point is to seal ingredients into your skin, this is key.
Being the type of people who think a product isn't really working unless it tingles, we were a little suspicious of this at first. It just felt cool and wet on our skin — not a bad thing, but not something that would make us think magic was happening. But, after 15 minutes, we removed the gel and almost fell over when we saw our skin in the mirror. It looked clearer, more glowing, smooth, and supple — almost bouncy, if you will.
Listen, we've tried a lotof face masks, and we can tell you there are results and then there are RESULTS. This falls into the latter category, creating a noticeable improvement in both the look and feel of our skin. Sure, it's a temporary effect, but damn if our skin didn't look good for the next 24 hours. We're waiting for the brand to come out with a full-body wrap — we'll be first in line.
Dr. Jart+ Water-Full Hydrogel Mask, $9, available at Sephora.
