The newest buzz-worthy addition to the expected lineup of soaps, foams, and oils is the “dry” cleanser. These powdery formulas transform into a cleansing paste when mixed with water. Their consistency makes them gentle exfoliants, ideal for sloughing off dead skin cells and other impurities while cleansing, moisturizing, and brightening. They work well with all skin types, even really sensitive complexions. And since they are dry, they don’t contain preservatives, alcohol, or other potentially harmful additives.
I'm a fan not just because of dry cleansers' performance factor, but because they are so easy to travel with — no spillage or leaking here. I’ve seen dry cleansers start to pop up in a few different skin-care collections, but really, you can make a simple version at home.
The all-natural recipe I came up with includes just four ingredients that offer major benefits: matcha (full of antioxidants and great for detoxification), rice bran (hydrates and improves skin’s elasticity), bentonite clay (extracts impurities and toxins from the skin) and bamboo (a mineral-rich exfoliant). Bonus: This cleanser is also free of parabens, phthalates, and synthetic fragrance.

1. Add all ingredients to an airtight container and shake vigorously to mix. 2. To use, pour a tablespoon of the mixture into dry hands.
