The Broad Collection, Eli Broad's downtown Los Angeles museum, has gotten the final go-ahead from the city. The new art space will be located on Grand Avenue, steps away from the Walt Disney Concert Hall and across the street from MOCA. It's been reported that NYC-based architecture firm Diller Scofidio + Renfro will break ground in October, and the new museum will house 35,000 square feet of exhibition space, offices, storage, and a book store that may be shared with MOCA. Considering we make a weekly pilgrimage downtown to check out exhibitions, shops, and have breakfast at Bottega Louie, this will definitely be a welcome addition to our itinerary. (LAist)
