Twice a year, Fashion Week gives us a short-lead peek at the future of fashion with a glimpse of what's to come in a few months. Last week, though, we extended our future-peering telescope to gaze along a distant timeline and see what the industry will look like in the years ahead. How? We styled the Fashion Institute of Technology's annual Future of Fashion runway show alongside stylist Laura Pritchard.
Celebrating the best of the best of FIT's 2014 graduating class was a tall order — especially with 90 designers each producing one final look. So, we turned to the likes of Kurt Geiger, Oscar de la Renta, BCBG, Ruthie Davis, ALDO, Dr. Martens, Vince Camuto, and GUESS for shoes, Karen Walker for spot-on sunnies, and Anndra Neen, Lulu Frost, Sequin, and Jennifer Fisher for jewels. The night of the show, like all good things, was an absolute blur of model changes, award-winning looks, and one Ms. Alexa Chung who was the evening's MC. Although we could use a full-body massage after completing the task, we managed to round up some highlights from the event. We'd say the future of fashion is looking mighty bright.
