Desert Rose: The Sun-Kissed Beauty Look At Rebecca Minkoff

"She's going on a road trip through the California desert," says Stila makeup artist Sarah Lucero about the Rebecca Minkoff girl. Lucero and team worked to create the sun-kissed, desert chic look for Minkoff's spring '13 runway show, playing off the collection's color palette of bright white, coral, blue, and turquoise. "The eyes are where it's all at," says Lucero. "It's about applying a pop of color into the center of the eye, which fits so well against that warm, peachy skin."
To achieve the look, the Stila team used Smudge Stick waterproof eyeliner in turquoise (available spring '13) on the inner corners, while the rest of the eye was kept neutral, using Wind and Desert from the In The Know Eyeshadow Palette. Convertible Color Camellia was applied to the cheeks for a subtle flush, and the lips were topped with Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick, in Dolce, a nude cinnamon color so much better than your grandmother's brown lipsticks.
For the hair, TRESemmé lead stylist Jeanie Syfu played with Minkoff's '80s-inspired denim to create a relaxed, chic feel. "I wanted it to look like the girls just woke up," says Syfu. "It's a polished version of the beachy texture." The team used TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Foaming Mousse before blow drying to create texture. Then, they curled the hair with a 1" barrel iron, straightened the ends with a flatiron, and added TRESemmé Smooth & Silky Anti-Frizz Secret Crème to finish. The result? A sophisticated, yet casual, loose wave, worthy of any desert rose.
