Tomorrow Night: Check Out The Most Creative Bar You’ve Ever Seen

Not that well-crafted beers are ever lowbrow (right?), but injecting a little art appreciation into one's drinking routine is always a welcomed addition. Which is why we're psyched to attend The Half King Gallery's next show, opening with an artist's talk tomorrow night. The space — a hybrid bar, gastropub, and gallery — is owned by New York Times best-selling author, Sebastian Junger, correspondent and novelist, Scott Anderson, and documentary producer and director, Nanette Burstein, with the exact intention of displaying important works of art all the while inspiring enlightened dinner conversation (with a large stout in hand, obviously).

For the ballery's (bar + gallery, duh) next effort, it will be premiering the work of local photographer Samuel James, curated by James Price and Anna Van Lenten. The captivating series, "Water Of My Land" (originally published in September as the longest spread ever to run in Harper's Magazine) turns a discerning lens on the Niger Delta's illicit fuel trade and is a product of James' unique and exclusive access to one of the world's most disparate regions.
