Although he snapped many a shoot for Vogues across the globe, the latest Helmut Newton exhibit at Pasadena's renowned Art Center College of Design proves that the famed photog was anything but a Devil Wears Prada-style boss. The racy German shutterbug's protégés from back in the day have since — not shockingly — risen to the top of their field (there are too many accolades and glossies to list), and will host a tribute to their master, curated by his wife June Newton.
Titled Three Boys From Pasadena: A Tribute To Helmut Newton, the images by Mark Arbeit, George Holz, and Just Loomis showcase a dreamy correlation between their images and their mentor's lifelong portfolio. The men corresponded with Newton long after their official education ended, and despite how busy he was, he managed to give feedback on contact sheets, write them personal notes, and even journaled about them — all of which will be on display. This truly unique and touching visual treat has us buzzing with warm fuzzies, and we'll definitely be in attendance opening night.
