Black trousers are a closet staple, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a Refinery29 editor — or, really, any woman — who doesn't own a pair that fits the bill for work, play, and everything in between. But, the moment we spotted Proenza Schouler's pre-fall '14 version — white, cropped, and wide-legged — we mentally pushed our beloved slim-cut slacks to the back of our wardrobe to make room for something new.
You see, as much as we love our go-to trouser, we don't deny that it's a smidgen expected. And, Proenza's pair is the exact opposite. Not only super fresh and all sorts of fly, but it adds a dash of unexpected masculine-meets-fashion-girl that our wardrobes have been craving.
But, here's where we run into some sartorial trouble. Sure, the trend looks sharp enough on a nine six-foot-tall model, and of course, we cannot stress enough the excitement we feel for something new. But, can these ankle-grazing/shin-slashing slacks actually complement our figure? And, if we don't care about them actually being flattering — after all, that's not always the point when it comes to "fashion clothes" — do we still like the look? Ahead, we gathered several pre-fall '14 collections that make a case for the high-water pant and include a few you can shop right now. Let us know in the comments below how you feel about this crop of crops.
