See The London Tube In A Whole New Way

The Underground isn't exactly our favourite thing about London right now. Negotiating rush hour alongside swathes of traumatized, present-laden Christmas shoppers is not our (or anyone's) idea of a good time.
But with his new exhibition, In-Passing, artist Andrew Stanney has shown us that not only is the Underground iconic and essential, it can be rather beautiful.
As the in-house photographer of The Old London Underground Company, Stanney has access to closed-off parts of the system that have been undisturbed for decades. In a disused part of Euston station, for instance, he captured old advertising posters that haven’t been seen by human eyes since the 1960s. There's something beautiful and haunting about these old adverts aimed at of people who are no longer there, asking them to buy products that no longer exist.

Indeed, there's a whole haunted world below London and a visit to Stanney's exhibition could give you a new take on our fair city and, who knows, might even make rush hour a bit more bearable.
Where: Red Gallery, 84-86 Great Eastern Street, EC2A 3JL.
When: From now until February 28.
