J.Crew’s Global Takeover Continues With A Little Help From Scott & Garance

Say hello (or guten tag, konnichiwa, or, perhaps, ni hao) to J.Crew’s latest online venture: A catalog of international fashion influencers dubbed “Hello, World!”.
Photographed by street style giants Scott Schuman and Garance Doré, “Hello, World!” chronicles the myriad ways different tastemakers style J.Crew pieces to make it fit their distinct sartorial visions. As if their monthly catalogs weren’t enough to inspire us, “Hello, World!” is providing yet another lethal (but warmly welcomed) shot of inspiration.
The feature, which launched last week, captures a slice of life from five tastemakers around the world. Blogger Berta Bernad,
Popeye
magazine EIC Takahiro Kinoshita, and prominent Hong Kong boutique owner Hilary Tsui are among those currently featured. With three of the tastemakers hailing from Asia, is it too soon to suspect that the company is plotting to take over the world, starting in the East? Backing us up: the fact that the brand is offering J.Crew Insider status and discounts to international shoppers for the very first time.
But we digress. In classic Scott and Garance fashion, “Hello, World!” includes videos, interviews, and pictures that explore the tastemakers’ personalities and inspirations in a deep and meaningful way. According to president and creative director of J.Crew, Jenna Lyons, the duo was selected because they have “had an incredible impact on style and fashion, inspiring people everywhere.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
