Covet This: Gorgeous Macramé Jewelry Straight From Haiti

Serendipity is a funny thing. It can lead to friendship, romance, or even a connection that begets a beautiful partnership. In the case of Haitian designer Jean Gardy and super-stylish local photog Nicole Wolf, it was the latter.

Wolf met the talented Gardy while working and volunteering in Haiti, and brought back some of his incredible handmade macrame jewelry after a trip this past fall. As fate would have it, Lori Parkerson, owner of 14th Street boutique Redeem and a champion of indie jewelry designers, scooped up the collection and can hardly keep the intricate, made-to-order pieces in stock.

Obviously, we're suckers for a good story — and we couldn't resist this one. But even better? We can't resist the simple-yet-elegant pieces Gardy has crafted, meticulously weaving and tying each piece by hand from his makeshift tent-turned-studio in Port au Prince.
