These Dizzying Aerial Photos Of L.A. Will Take Your Breath Away

Maybe you're in bumper-to-bumper traffic on the 101. Perhaps your beach walk is rudely interrupted by piles of trash, or your neighborhood suddenly starts reeking of sewage. It's then that it hits you like a ton of bricks: L.A. can be a downright grimy place to live in.

Ever been there? Well, maybe a change of perspective will make all the difference — a 2,000-foot change, in fact. Photographer Jeffrey Milstein set out on a helicopter to capture the beauty of our city from above, and the results are truly jaw-dropping. What inspired him to take his skills to new heights? "I was always interested in how things look from above," he told us. "I had a pilot's license at 17 years old and would fly around photographing, so I went back to doing what I did as a kid."

As you can imagine, this wasn't the easiest project to execute. "There's a lot of vibration and movement," he told us. "You don't get a lot of chances, so you have to be quick to figure out the shot."
