We think the fashion world heaved a collective sigh of satisfaction at 4 a.m. (the ones awake, at least) when it was revealed that Kate Middleton was wearing an Alexander McQueen dress that Sarah Burton designed and was handmade by the atelier. The long sleeves, gathered skirt, tight bodice, and distinct McQueen silhouette was both appropriate for an ultra-traditional, hoity-toity wedding, and gave a powerful hat-tip to one of England's greatest visionaries.
