One S.F. Knitwear Designer You Need To Know

Debuting your work at New York Fashion Week is certainly a weighty bragging right. And, for S.F.-based knitwear designer Kathryn McCarron, that’s exactly what went down when she showed a slew of her creations at the AAU spring ’08 show — which was quickly followed with rave reviews from WWD. Another lofty milestone, we might add!
But, trust us, one glance at this young star’s work and you’ll see why it's worthy of all the buzz. After honing her craft in NYC (and working for big-time lines like Badgley Mischka and Norma Kamali) McCarron left the Big Apple for our foggy city to focus on growing her own brand here in the West.
Naturally, we wouldn’t expect anything but elegantly fused pullovers and chic sweaters and dresses to fill the spring ’14 line. Think minimalist items with muted tones that have just the right amount of edge and offer an “I want to wear this every single day” air. The inspiration? “When I was designing my spring ‘14 collection, I was inspired by the tragically beautiful life of Gia, the world's first supermodel,” says McCarron. “A wild, beautiful horse who loved deeply and lived fully and could never be caged.” Take a look at her new pieces and we dare you not to want to snatch every last one. This chick is one to watch.
